General Summary of Position:

The Associate Director of Student Life and Involvement provides strategic leadership for co-curricular engagement, fostering inclusive, developmental, and high-impact experiences that connect in- and out-of-class learning. The role oversees key student organizations, including media, arts, and programming groups, and leads club development, leadership training, onboarding, and event management. This position supervises staff and graduate fellows, manages the student organization platform, and collaborates across campus to support student success, leadership growth, and retention. The Associate Director plays a central role in enhancing student organization accountability, fostering partnerships, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals, while contributing to campus traditions and engagement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field of study required.
Experience: ·
- Five to seven years’ full-time professional experience in Student Activities in higher education is required.
- Proven experience and proficiency in fiscal management, advising, time management, and multi-tasking.
- Knowledge and experience working with Student Information System (SIS) or similar system, Organization database software, online scheduling software, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven experience working effectively with diverse groups.
- Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students and full-time staff as assigned.
Additional Considerations:
- Proven ability to apply the tenets of student development, organization development, staff development, and quality improvement in a student affairs setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community agencies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience in contract negotiation, budgeting, and marketing.
- Understanding the knowledge of engagement, retention, and student success in a manner consistent with the position responsibilities and the university's strategic priorities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, whereas students and staff serve as the main client base.
- Ability to meet deadlines and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary division.
