General Summary of Position:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for one full-time, non tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to start on Sept 1, 2026.  The primary responsibilities are to provide high quality teaching and service to the department.  This position is renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment as Associate Teaching Professor following six consecutive years of outstanding performance evaluations.

The successful candidate will primarily teach mathematics courses to students in their first two years of undergraduate studies.  Service roles may include coordinating multisession classes, advising students, engaging in outreach activities, and supporting our continuing efforts to improve the department's educational mission. Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • An earned doctorate in Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field, followed by 2 years teaching experience in Mathematics at the college or university level.

-- OR --

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field, followed by 5 years teaching experience in Mathematics at the college or university level.

Additional Considerations:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and service at the undergraduate level.
  • Candidates with a strong record of teaching statistics courses are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time, benefited, Massachusetts Society of Professors/MTA/NEA union position. Anticipated salary range, minimum of $65,000 to maximum $95,500, based on qualifications.
