General Summary of Position:

The Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success is responsible for all areas of student-athlete excellence. This position reports directly to the Sr. Associate AD, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Senior Vice Provost of Academic Affairs to ensure academic integrity.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Implements academic oversight and structure to ensure successful Academic Performance Rate (APR), retention and graduation rates of student-athletes.

2. Oversees the academic eligibility and progress towards degree requirements of all student-athletes. 

3. In conjunction with the Compliance office, oversees execution of contractual requirements of Name, Image & Likeness (NIL).

4. Provides academic support for assigned teams.

5. Liaison with undergraduate admissions to assist coaches in evaluating prospects for initial and transfer NCAA academic eligibility.

6. Serves as the Athletics Department liaison to Academic Affairs, with an indirect reporting line to the Senior Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Will interface with other academic individuals and offices including the following:  faculty, the Registrar’s Office, Admissions, the Faculty Athletic Representative, Centers for Learning, Disability Services, and the Athletics Department.

7. Provide leadership, direction and oversight to Office of Student-Athlete Success, while representing the athletic department at campus-wide academic events

Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:

  • Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
  • Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
  • Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.

Other Job Duties:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

• Master’s Degree required.

Experience:

  • 5-7 Years working at NCAA institutions, preferably at the Division I level.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I requirements in the new landscape of the transfer portal and NIL
  • Experience in supervision and departmental leadership

Skills:

  • Ability to effectively organize and lead a department unit.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer software such as Microsoft365, Teamworks Suite, MS Teams, expense reporting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Additional Considerations:

  • Sincere desire and ability to assist student athletes to succeed.
  • Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, advisors, coaches, faculty and administrators on their level required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with people in a fast-paced, potentially hectic environment.
  • Experience with Teamworks Suite – including Hub, GM, C&R & Academics

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a Non-Unit, Professional position.

This position is full-time, benefited and non-union in grade P18. Anticipated salary based on qualifications and the range of: minimum $72,170, 25th quartile: $82,093 and midpoint of $92,017.
