General Summary of Position:


University of Massachusetts, Lowell has an opening for a part-time, temporary Counseling Clinician at Counseling Services (UMLCS), part of the UMass Lowell Wellness Center. We are seeking a clinician to provide in person or telehealth counseling services to our diverse, determined and resilient student population between 8-20 hours per week from 9/15/25 - 06/30/26.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Master’s/Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, clinical social work or a closely related field and 1-2 years post-advanced degree clinical experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of individual counseling and psychotherapy practices, knowledge of developmental psychological theory, understanding of student developmental, and cultural competence appropriate for a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with developmental issues common to the 18-25 year old college student population.
  • Ability to perform psychological assessment, conduct detailed assessments for suicide risk, provide crisis intervention services, maintain appropriate records via an EHR and adhere to state laws as well as professional and ethical standards.
  • Current independent license (Psychologist, LMHC, LICSW) in good standing to practice in state of Massachusetts required.

Preferred Qualifications: (If applicable)

  • 1-2 years of practice within a college or university counseling center.
