Instructional Technologist (Internal Opportunity Only)

General Summary of Position:

This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position.

The Instructional Technologist will collaborate with faculty in the use and integration of technology into the academic curriculum in order to enhance the learning process. The Instructional Technologist will partner with faculty and staff with the selection, design and deployment of academic technology solutions to support teaching and learning.  The portfolio of technologies includes: Personal Response Systems “Clickers”, Lecture Capture Platform, Smart Podiums, video, video conferencing platforms, Learning Management Systems, multi-media applications and mobile devices.  Duties include identifying technology training needs of faculty and coordinating with the manager to develop and deliver training workshops. This position requires the development of documentation for faculty, staff, and students regarding the use of academic technologies.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: 

  • A minimum of two to five years of experience using and supporting current academic, classroom and instructional technologies in a higher education setting.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of classroom technology and ability to troubleshoot Extron systems and signal flow.
  • Experience with Macintosh, Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace Administration including account creation, Chromebook device management and application policy distribution.
  • Experience working with academic technology applications, tools, and web-based course management systems, including: Personal Response Systems “Clickers”, vLabs, Echo360 lecture capture platforms (or comparable), Smart Podiums, YuJa, Zoom, Teams, etc..
  • Experience working with MS Office, multimedia, video, and mobile applications.
  • Working knowledge of Symantec Ghost Solution Suite for imaging and maintaining complex computer lab environments.
  • Working knowledge of AxisTV and Airtame Digital Signage.
  • Experience with Shavlik Protect patch management.
  • Experience with supporting Laerdal Nursing Simulation Labs.

Additional Considerations:

The candidate should:

  • Possess extensive customer service skills.
  • Have the ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Be familiar with various instructional delivery modes related to TEAL campus learning spaces.
  • Have strong technical understanding and be able to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
