General Summary of Position:
This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position.
This position provides comprehensive administrative support for the Psychology Department, including its chairperson, faculty, and undergraduate and graduate students. The Psychology Department is among the largest units within the College, with more than 800 undergraduate and graduate students, as well as about 60 full and part time faculty.
Key responsibilities for this position include coordinating the department’s administrative operations; managing budgets, facilities, and other resources; event and meeting planning and coordination; interface with administrative systems and units across the University; maintaining the website and social media presence as well as the graduate alumni databases; supporting and advising undergraduate and graduate students, and engaging with alumni, full time and adjunct faculty, and a range of external stakeholders. Conduct periodic data reporting and analysis on student demographics, academic progress, faculty success and success metrics for all department programs.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience performing duties related to budget management, communications, and faculty and student support in an academic department of comparable size and complexity as the Psychology Dept. will consider candidates with HS Diploma or GED/equivalent and 10 years of directly related experience
• Demonstrated experience with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, database systems.
• Experience with PeopleSoft or comparable administrative management systems
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse array of administrative challenges and consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
