    Director of Research & Learning (Promotional Opportunity Only) in UMass Lowell

    This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position. The Director of Research & Learning leads the University Library’s Research & Learning department which develops and implements strategic research, instruction, and programing models that support the University’s educational and scholarly endeavors and includes strategic planning for the Center for Lowell History in collaboration with the Head Archivist. A key member of the Library Leadership Team, the Director for Research & Learning manages UML Library operations in the Dean’s absence, contributes expertise and knowledge of trends in research and learning in the academic library setting, collaborates with colleagues across campus at a high level (e.g., deans, directors, department chairs) on initiatives that support emerging needs (e.g., digital scholarship, open educational resources [OERs], data management including research and cultural heritage, faculty research support, and library collections/spaces), and oversees initiatives that connect learners and researchers with the resources of UML Library, including the rich archival holdings of the Center for Lowell History. The History Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to hire an Assistant Teaching Professor of History, with a specialization in nineteenth-century U.S. History, with an anticipated start of September 2026.

  • Sr. Lab Manager - Electrical Engineering in UMass Lowell

    The Senior Lab Manager manages the daily operations of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (EECE) instructional and research laboratories and the EECE maker space. Responsibilities include equipment management, budgeting, maintenance, and supervising personnel, all requiring strong technical and engineering skills. They also act as the main safety liaison with UMass Lowell’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) office and work closely with EECE faculty, staff, and students to support teaching and research activities. Additionally, this person is responsible for providing lab instruction as needed.

  • Director - Network Services in UMass Lowell

    The Director of Network Services is the chief architect and leader of the Network Services group in Information Technology. The Director of Network Services is responsible for managing, leading, and expanding the skillset of the Network Services team as well as the overall operations, architecture, expansion, and advanced support of network-related systems to meet the business needs of UMass Lowell. Under the direction of the Associate CIO of Network and Communication Services, the Director of Network Services has a broad and deep view of UMass Lowell’s network-related technology systems, as well as a thorough understanding of the business drivers that impact those technology systems. As a team leader and project coordinator of highly advanced network systems, this individual is responsible for not only leading all aspects of the Network Services team, but providing thought-leadership, advanced mentoring, expert technical/strategic support, and ensuring the overall function of the university’s network services. They are responsible for the selection, adoption, and assimilation of new architectural and operational solutions, as well as the continued support of existing services. The Director is the highest internal escalation point for all issues related to the university’s network systems, and functions as a mentor to other members of IT both inside and outside of their team. In addition to knowledge of network systems, the Director of Network Services is expected to make meaningful contributions to all areas of UMass Lowell’s technology infrastructure, including voice services, systems engineering, instructional technologies, audio/visual, security, and academic/research technologies.

  • Facilities Senior Space Specialist in UMass Lowell

    Reporting to the Facilities Information Systems Manager, the Facilities Senior Space Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and usefulness of campus space data across all university facilities. The primary responsibility of the position is to manage the space inventory system, coordinate and lead periodic space audits across all campus buildings, and serve as a point of contact for departments verifying their space records, as well as any reporting and analytics needed. This role also supports collaboration with campus stakeholders and assists in resolving space-related discrepancies. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. As a member of a small FIS team, this position may assist with a variety of other functions including records management systems, GIS and software licensing.
