Faculty Part-Time - Portuguese 529569 World Languages and Cultures
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites candidates to apply for a one year part-time non-benefited adjunct faculty position to start in the Fall Semester, September 2026. Primary responsibilities are to provide high quality teaching and service to the department (80% teaching, 20% service). The regular teaching load for this position is 3-4 courses per semester. Responsibilities will consist of teaching courses at the undergraduate level in language, literature, cinema, and culture as needed, including Portuguese 1 through 4 and upper-level courses in English or Portuguese. The successful candidate will be involved in service to the Portuguese program as needed and will fulfill any outreach activities, actively participating in continuing efforts to recruit and retain students to the program, including majors and minors in the Portuguese program. The ideal candidate will enhance the student's learning experience by integrating a variety of methods and strategies into the teaching process and maintaining a student learning-centered environment. Knowledge of second language proficiency assessment and ACTFL standards is a plus. This position will also support the application and enrollment process for the College’s MPH program, time permitting.
