General Summary of Position:

This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees with the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position. 

The Assistant Director, Career Advising & Programming focuses on the career advising, as well as college-based and university wide career development related programming. This role plays a key part in developing collaborative relationships to ensure innovative, equitable programs designed to support students’ professional success.  

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Demonstrated experience in career development, experiential education, student development, employer relations and/or talent acquisition
  • Demonstrated experience in a career-related counseling or advising capacity
  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in career services with at least 2 of those years in a higher education environment
  • Program development and program evaluation experience
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary programming

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Career services experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver career advising for diverse populations through individual, drop-in, and group appointments; workshops; and other programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and develop relationships with clients as well as faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology in work with clients as well as administrative work.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate efforts for collaboration and delivery of services.
  • Candidate should be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends, as needed

  • Strong understanding of UMass Lowell's diverse student population.

This is an internal promotional opportunity in the SEIU 888 Professional Union, Grade P17. Anticipated salary based on range: Minimum: $65,693  25th quartile: $74,725 Midpoint: $83,758.
