General Summary of Position:

We are seeking a part-time bioinformatician to work on a project in the field of social epigenetics and bioinformatics. This position will focus on the development and implementation of simulation-based approaches to study DNA methylation dynamics. The researcher will be responsible for designing novel computational methods, performing data analysis, and contributing to grant application and manuscript writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement computational and statistical models to simulate DNA methylation patterns and their biological implications.
  • Analyze and interpret DNA methylation datasets, compiling, integrating, and preprocessing microarray-based datasets where necessary.
  • Maintain clear documentation of code, methods, and results to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians, to refine models and validate findings.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals.
  • Prepare high-quality scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in computational modeling, statistical analysis, and simulation techniques.
  • Proficiency in the R programming language for data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience working with microarray-based DNA methylation data or other omics data (e.g. EPIC arrays).
  • Familiarity with machine learning or Bayesian approaches for epigenetic data analysis is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
