General Summary of Position:

The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation oversees two clusters:  (1) Research Administration and Institutional Compliance; and (2) Industry Partnerships and Economic Development.  The Executive Assistant (EA) to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (VCRI) provides direct administrative support to the Vice Chancellor and supports operational and administrative needs of diverse projects and multiple ongoing endeavors undertaken by the VCRI Office. This also includes special projects to improve processes and inform strategies. The EA supervises all support staff in the VCRI office.  The EA is also part of the staff supporting Executive Cabinet activities and collaborates regularly with a diverse group of internal (primarily faculty and staff) and external constituencies. 

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in a university setting
  • Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft, Summit and MS Office
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail, work as part of a team, and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are essential as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Requires discretion in handling confidential information with regard to faculty (salary and funding), staff (salary and review) and students (financial aid and grades)
