Podcasting is an advanced production course in which students research, develop, record, edit, and publish original audio programs of increasing complexity. Building upon foundational skills in audio production, the course addresses podcast concept development, research, interviewing, scriptwriting, story structure, producing, location scouting, scheduling, field recording, voice-over, sound design, editing, mixing, and distribution. Students may produce documentary, interview-based, narrative, journalistic, educational, promotional, or client-based podcasts. The course should introduce students to professional podcasting workflows, including media hosting, RSS feeds, podcast artwork, metadata, publishing platforms, audience development, and ethical and legal considerations. The successful candidate will provide hands-on instruction, guide students through individual and collaborative productions, evaluate creative and technical work, and support an inclusive and professionally oriented learning environment.
