General Summary of Position:

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position for January 2019. The Department is seeking an individual with the dedication and commitment to teaching and service, necessary to provide a high-quality education to its student body. Responsibilities will consist primarily of teaching the senior Capstone Design course. The successful candidate should also be capable of teaching other courses at the undergraduate level such as: Introduction to Engineering/Autodesk products; Construction Management, Civil Engineering Systems. The successful candidate would also be involved in advising undergraduate students, service and outreach activities; and actively participating in continuing efforts to improve the department's educational mission. The appointment is for 9 months per year, and renewable annually, based on performance. Opportunities exist for additional compensation by teaching in the summer months. Position is contingent upon funding.

Appointment to begin as early as January 2019. Potential for future appointment as Non Tenure-Track Lecturer.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer and relevant industrial experience
  • Undergraduate and Master degrees in Civil Engineering
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Record of successful teaching experience at the college level

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a non-tenured teaching faculty position and is contingent upon funding.
