The Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 2026. This search focuses on decision science and related areas, broadly defined. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by September 1, 2026, and have an active, fundable research program with a strong publication record. We welcome applicants whose work advances understanding of decision-making processes across individual, group, organizational, or societal contexts. Areas of topical expertise may include—but are not limited to—applications of decision science to workplace behavior, health and risk communication, behavioral economics, misinformation and bias reduction, high-stakes or policy decisions, and prevention and intervention strategies. Applicants whose research integrates innovative methodological or analytical approaches are especially encouraged to apply. Examples include measurement and data collection methods such as neuroimaging (e.g., EEG, fNIRS), psychophysiology, or technology-based paradigms (e.g., virtual or augmented reality, social media and web data analytics); computational and statistical modeling techniques such as Bayesian networks, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, machine learning, or other artificial intelligence approaches; and applied frameworks that link decision-making models to real-world outcomes in areas such as health promotion, risk reduction, and prevention practice. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research addresses the needs of underrepresented or underserved populations, promotes equity, or incorporates community-engaged approaches. Responsibilities include maintaining an active, externally funded research program; teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and providing service to the department, college, and university.
