Postdoctoral Research Associate – Complex Artificial Electromagnetic Materials 529811 Submillimeter Wave Tech Lab
Applicants are sought for a full-time, benefitted postdoctoral researcher position in the field of complex artificial electromagnetic materials - design, modeling, fabrication and characterization - at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Submillimeter-Wave Technology Laboratory (STL). STL is interested in furthering its expertise in the modeling, fabrication, and characterization of full-scale and scale-model artificial complex electromagnetic materials within the microwave to THz regimes. Candidates will be expected to scale the electromagnetic properties of existing and novel artificial electromagnetic materials as per the rules of electrodynamic similitude. The successful applicant will also collaborate with STL senior staff, write detailed technical reports for STL’s DoD sponsor, as well as publish results in scholarly journals and/or relevant recognized conferences in the United States (US). The successful applicant may also be assigned other relevant duties in support of STL’s DoD contract regarding full-scale and scale-modeling of complex artificial electromagnetic materials by STL’s Director. The initial appointment will be May 16, 2026 through May 15, 2027, assuming additional funding is available by November 16, 2026, with a possibility of renewal for a second year based on productivity and performance and the availability of funding.

Systems Administrator - Unified Communications 529736 Systems Engineering
The Systems Administrator – Unified Communications is a highly technical staff member within the Systems Engineering group in Information Technology. This position is responsible for primary ownership of the university’s enterprise telephony and unified communications infrastructure while also functioning as a fully integrated member of the broader Systems Engineering team. This role maintains operational responsibility for UMass Lowell’s voice and communications platforms, including Session Border Controllers (SBCs), VoIP systems, SIP trunking, carrier services, and E911 compliance. In addition to unified communications ownership, the Systems Administrator is expected to contribute to general infrastructure initiatives and participate fully in cross-platform engineering efforts. Architectural standards and design decisions are established by the Systems Engineering Manager and Director, with this role focused on implementation, operational stability, and continuous improvement. Under the direction of the Director of Systems Engineering, this position supports both the stability and modernization of unified communications services while also assisting with virtualization, server infrastructure, identity services, and other enterprise systems as required. The Systems Administrator participates fully in the Systems Engineering on-call rotation and must be capable of diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues across a multi-vendor environment.

The Senior Network Engineer-Wireless is a highly advanced technical staff member in the Network Services group in Information Technology. The Senior Network Engineer-Wireless is responsible for the architecture, design, configuration, and support of wireless network systems to meet the business needs of UMass Lowell. With leadership from the Director of Network Services, the Senior Network Engineer-Wireless executes the overall vision and strategy related to University wireless network systems. They are responsible for recommending, designing, and implementing short and long term Wi-Fi network infrastructure initiatives including network design, architecture of Wi-Fi systems, and developing strategies for integrating new wireless-based services. They collaborate closely with the Network Services team, project managers, and information security staff to provide robust and highly available wireless network services. As required, they configure wired and wireless network equipment, resolve end-user network issues using software and hardware tools, repair and install network equipment, and provide direct end-user support. They are integral in the overall services delivered to all internal and external users of UMass Lowell’s IT service catalog.

The Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies in the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences announce the FLAD/Saab Visiting Professorship in Portuguese Studies for Spring Semester 2027. This program sponsors a one-semester, open-rank, Visiting Professor of Portuguese Studies at UMass Lowell. The program is open to Portuguese Academics presently teaching at a university in Portugal or abroad. The program contributes a Portuguese academic perspective to the curriculum of the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and, more specifically, supports the Portuguese Studies Program at UMass Lowell and the mission of the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies. The program further enhances the University's relationship with the regional Portuguese American community. For Spring Semester 2027, we seek a Visiting professor in the academic areas of Criminology, Film Studies, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Portuguese American Studies, or Sociology/Anthropology.
