General Summary of Position:
Responsible for providing direct support to the Department and Department Chair for articulating and implementing the Mission of the Francis College of Engineering. Provides program and administrative assistance to faculty, staff, and students to support teaching, research, service, student recruiting, and outreach activities of the department. Responsibilities include developing and implementing procedures, managing the Department Office and student workers, overseeing student success, and retention initiatives within the department, and supporting faculty and staff needs. The position will manage outreach initiatives and create programming with corporate (including IAB members) and STEM pipeline (K-12) partners, to support workforce development initiatives in the Plastics Engineering field.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- HS Diploma/GED or equivalent with 7 to 10 years administrative experience; or
- Bachelor’s equivalent in related field with 3 to 5 years administrative experience; or
- Master’s or higher in related field equivalent with 1 to 3 years administrative experience.
- Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software. Must be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and ability to multitask with no supervision.
- Requires strong attention to detail and record keeping skills.
- Ability to use discretion when implementing strategies to meet goals.
Additional Considerations:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred. Experience working in a university setting. Strong oral and written skills required for frequent communication, reporting and presentation. Desire to be engaged in the profession and participate in professional organizations.
- Mastery of the University systems, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to BuyWays, Summit, UPST, Finance Production, HR Direct, 25 Live, US Bank, Journal Entry forms, Concur, and other system as appropriate.
