General Summary of Position:

The two part time Academic Advisors and Student Support Specialists (one on north campus and one on south campus) main focus is to assist in managing the advising and academic success of undergraduate day students at UMass Lowell.  The north campus position is in the Advising Center and will report to the Associate Director of Academic Services and the south campus position is in the Advising Center and will report to the Assistant Director of Academic Services.  Each position will assist in creating a strong foundation for the students in understanding the requirements toward their degree and providing academic Student Success Coaching Workshops presented by the Centers for Learning team.

These are part-time/temporary, non-benefited position.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with some experience in higher education;
  • Some supervisory or leadership experience, program development and strong organization experience;
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems; (SIS)
  • Working knowledge of academic support best practices;
  • Effective oral, written, listening and communication skills;
  • Familiar with computers and competency navigating and performing data entry in a Windows environment;
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse people;
  • Willingness to have evening and weekend programming and outreach initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s Degree program preferred;
