General Summary of Position:

UMass Lowell Division of Online and Continuing Education is seeking qualified applicants to join our undergraduate admissions team. The admissions specialist (temporary) will be responsible for guiding prospective students through the application, admission, and enrollment process. This involves actively reaching out to applicants via phone and email conversation, ensuring timely processing of all application documents, and assisting newly admitted students with the enrollment process.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with prospective students to evaluate the student’s needs, interests and qualifications while providing information to help the prospective student make an informed decision about their program of interest and school fit
  • Provide information regarding the school, program offerings, accreditation, cost, etc. in an accurate and ethical manner
  • Process application documents to ensure timely completion of student files
  • Assists applicants through the application process, including obtaining necessary documents
  • Evaluate undergraduate OCE applications and make admissions decisions based on stated guidelines
  • Guide admitted students in the enrollment process
  • Work closely with campus departments including academic advising and financial aid to ensure a high level of service for every student
  • Evaluate transfer credits for applicants
  • Communicate with prospective and current students via email, skype, and phone outreach
  • Participate in recruitment and retention campaigns
  • Perform administrative functions related to the admissions process as needed
  • Collaborate with admissions team members to work on new projects and initiatives designed to meet and exceed application and enrollment goals

Minimum Qualifications (Required):  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with applicants through the admissions process Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evening hours
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to working with diverse student populations, including, but not limited to; first generation, veteran, low income, adult and underrepresented individuals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Systems
  • Comfort with learning new operating systems, including PeopleSoft, Document Imaging, Salesforce, and TouchPoint calling system a must
  • Experience in admissions strongly desired, however training in all systems and processes will occur

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position. Hours: Monday – Thursday 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM
