General Summary of Position:

The Director for Corporate Partnerships and Athletic Donor Relations will work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Corporate Partnership and Donor Relations to develop and implement strategies, events and programs to engage and recruit Companies to advertise and promote their product and service through UMass Lowell Athletics.  S/he is responsible for revenue-generating activities associated with advertising, corporate sales and premium ticket sales in athletics. S/he is responsible for working towards corporate revenue goals each fiscal year. S/he will work to continue to grow the athletic donor base as well as increase donor dollars supporting UMass Lowell Athletics

Essential Job Duties:

1. Corporate Partnerships
a. Responsible for servicing existing athletic corporate partnerships to ensure their contracts are being implemented and executed
b. Write and present proposals to decision makers within organizations
c. Work with various departments in athletics to ensure all components of contracts are being fulfilled (marketing, ticketing,    communications, in game promotion staff, video department)
d. Run annual cultivation events for corporate partners to assist with the acquisition and retention process
e. Develop annual re-cap decks to review with corporate partners
f. Work with other departments on campus to identify other sponsorship opportunities (Homecoming, Freshman Orientation, Convocation)
g. Create additional outreach to grow corporate partner portfolio via outbound phone calls, email marketing, business-to-business  partnerships, face-to-face presentations, social media campaigns and community events
h. Attend all home hockey and basketball games as way to cultivate and prospect new corporate accounts

2. Athletic Donor Relations
a. Work with Senior Associate Athletic Director to maintain and increase athletic donor base as well as donor dollars
b. Work with Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Donor Engagement to identify list of athletic donors and prospects to cultivate and solicit each year
c. Establish monthly athletic donor visitation goals
d. Work with Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Donor Engagement to properly fill out and track contact reports with the office of advancement
e. Provide leadership support around UMass Lowell Days of Giving
f. Provide leadership support around athletic campaigns and fundraising goals
g. Maintain a strong working relationship with all head coaches to assist with donor retention and cultivation
h. Attend all athletic and alumni events as needed to strategically cultivate and identify new athletic donors

3. Accounting
a. Work closely with athletic business office to ensure all corporate payments are being properly collected and recorded
b. Work with Advancement to appropriately acknowledge corporate accounts

4. Collaboration
a. Work closely with all athletic staff on athletic projects as needed to ensure they are always done professionally and in a first-class manner
b. Maintain cross-campus relationships to enhance programming opportunities

Other Job Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
Nights and weekends are required
Occasional overnight travel is possible
Attendance at campus events is expected

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred
  • 5-8 years of related experience in sales, fund raising, alumni engagement and/or donor relations
  • 5-8 years of related experience in budget and/or staff management
  • Proven ability to raise money during solicitation campaigns
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment
  • Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Massachusetts Lowell
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong mutually-beneficial relationships
  • Robust planning and organizational skills, including ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to teamwork and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the institution
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, email marketing software, social media and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
  • Ability to manage an irregular work schedule including occasional evenings, early mornings and weekends
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software products
  • Demonstration of a strong work ethic that contributes to a strong team and departmental success

Additional Considerations:

• Demonstrated ability to generate revenues
