General Summary of Position:

This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position.

The Assistant Athletics Director for Administration assumes day-to day responsibilities for facilitating and streamlining projects and tasks, advancing and advocating directives on behalf of the Director of Athletics.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Serve as a tactical leader within the department, possess a keen attention to detail, is data driven, and has excellent written and oral communication skills. Assumes the efficient deployment of resources ensuring high standards and timelines are maintained on the department’s various projects and initiatives. This position may also often handle the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within a specific area and require pulling together and managing teams that involve input from multiple departments on campus.  To contribute toward departmental operational productivity and efficiency.  Assists with being a clearinghouse for many incoming requests to the department and is a liaison to a variety of stakeholders and interested parties.

2. Assist with the programming and logistics for the Leadership Team’s annual retreat, including any subsequent follow-up items. Each fiscal year, the department will produce a year in review report to be disseminated to stakeholders. Will lead the charge in collecting data, compiling information, crafting messaging and producing the final report.  Assist in maintaining a focus on continual process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and sound business practices

3. Assist in fostering a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness including but not limited to staffing, recruitment, departmental culture and communications.   

4. Assist with representing Athletics on various campus committees and collaborate with campus partners surrounding the coordination of relevant projects and events.

5.  Oversee the collection of staff and student-athlete surveys, exit interviews, data collection, assessment, and distribution. 

6.  Support with strategic planning that enhance departmental operations

7.  Comply to all University, NCAA and Conference rules and regulations

• Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.

Other Job Duties:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Early mornings, evenings and weekends required
  • Attendance at some University events is expected

Minimum Qualifications (Required): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 4-6 years’ previous experience within a Division I university environment
  • Prior Experience with student programming

Additional Considerations:

  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of University policies and procedures
  • Experience working effectively in diverse environments
  • Supervisory/staff development experience
  • Operates with integrity and high ethical standards
