General Summary of Position:

The River Hawk Scholars Academy (RHSA) is seeking a qualified individual to work part-time in the role of Program Coordinator.  The RHSA is a student success and retention program at UMass Lowell that focuses on a primary population of first generation college students as they transition from high school to college in their first year on campus.  The program was launched in 2017, and as of the fall of 2019 will support students in all six of UMass Lowell’s Colleges.  Currently, over 250 students are served by the RHSA in four out of the University’s six Colleges, with an anticipation of increasing that number to 400.

The person who will thrive in this position will be committed to the success and well-being of first generation college students and demonstrate a record of innovative programming, attention to detail, an evidence-driven mindset in decision-making, the ability to work independently on projects, and the capacity to collaborate regularly with a range of people and populations.  The person in this in this role will report directly to the RHSA Faculty Director.

This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position. 

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelors’ degree required
  • 1-3 years related experience required 
  • Administrative experience in organizing high-level events, meetings, etc.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Additional Considerations:

  • Demonstrated commitment to student success
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters preferred
  • Experience working in Higher Education preferred
