General Summary of Position:

The Nanofabrication Laboratory Assistant Manager provides technical support for the daily operations of the Nano Fabrication Laboratory.  Core Research Facilities, is the shared research laboratories program at UMass Lowell.  This position works closely with students, faculty and external clients.  This position manages training activities, tool changes (with the Director and Equipment Manager) for the nanofabrication Laboratory, and assists users with experimental design and troubleshooting of process issues.

Equipment Suite includes semiconductor development instruments which includes photolithography, deposition and etching instruments.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science related field with 3-5 years’ experience; will consider candidates with HS Diploma or GED/equivalent and 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in working with semiconductor development equipment and processes
  • Keen ability to extract complicated technical information and translate to a less technical audience
  • Strong communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm, in training researchers including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and industry researchers
  • Self-starter, customer-service oriented team player and ability to use solid judgement
