General Summary of Position:

The Assistant/Associate Director of Graduate Recruitment is responsible for planning and executing recruitment and yield strategies for the assigned degree programs. Responsibilities include: attending recruitment events, college fairs, conducting information sessions, recruitment webinars, contacting prospective students and keep them engaged during the recruitment, admissions and matriculation phases. The Associate Director of Graduate Recruitment will also participate and support evaluating and summarizing applications for admissions. The incumbent will collaborate with the marketing team, academic program coordinators/departments on marketing efforts and developing marketing materials. Collaborating with the Corporate Partnership team, the Assistant/Associate Director of Graduate Admissions identifies target companies and builds company pipelines for graduate students.

Recruitment and Enrollment:

  • Serve as the primary contact for prospective applicants in assigned degree programs throughout the first enrollment at GPS.
  • Support the Assistant Dean of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions in developing enrollment goals and develop strategic enrollment plans.
  • Build effective strategies and tactics  for the recruitment and yield activities of domestic and international students as well as underrepresented students.
  • Execute effective recruitment and yield strategies and tactics including but not limited to college fairs, department events, webinars, corporate site visits. The overall goal of travel is to increase the visibility of UMass Lowell and recruit students that will help the University meet its graduate program enrollment goals.
  • Identify effective recruitment venues to recruit targeted prospective students in the domestic market in the assigned programs.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Partnership team to recruit students from partner organizations.
  • Manage and be the first point of contact to prospective students for the assigned degree programs.
  • Develop effective outbound communication campaigns to proactively answer prospective students’ questions and participate in increasing the application pools as well as enrollments.
  • Keep an in-depth knowledge of the programs portfolio. Additionally, the incumbent must be able to speak to all aspects of UMass Lowell and the university’s academic offering.
  • Using analytical reports and dashboards, project and monitor the enrollment funnel and adjust strategies and tactics to meet enrollment goals.
  • Offer recruitment support to other programs as needed.
  • Manage part time recruitment staff as needed.

Partnerships and Collaborations:

  • Partner with the advising team, faculty and program coordinators to capture key elements of the assigned degree programs and turn them into effective talking points to be utilized in recruitment.
  • Ensure warm hand off of enrolled students to the advising team.
  • Support the admissions team and review applications as needed.
  • Support the GPS marketing team in developing effective communication plans and other marketing assets.

Agency Management:

The incumbent who is hired in the Associate Director role may perform the following duties.

  • Manage partnerships with agencies that support Graduate, Online and Professional Studeis division in nurturing domestic prospective students and offering outbound and inbound communication supports.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, define key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the partner agencies.
  • Collaborate with GPS IT to build reports and dashboards to track the KPI’s for the partner agents.
  • Ensure the staff at the partner agencies are fully trained on UMass Lowell programs and the brand values

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Assistant Director Role (grade P16):

  • Master’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in higher education or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience.

Associate Director Role (grade P18):

  • Master’s degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience in higher education or Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience. 1-2 years of experience in managing partnerships and/or building new revenue pipelines.

Experience:

  • Experience in international recruitment is highly desired
  • Experience working with diverse populations required
  • Experience in recruiting working professionals is highly desired
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation, adaptability, collaboration, process management, detail orientation, organizational skills, analysis, data interpretation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand the big picture required
  • Experience in working with Customer Relationship Management systems, Student Information System, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of higher education issues related to the recruitment, admission and enrollment of students required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse constituencies is required
  • Ability to collect, organize and interpret analytical data
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Flexibility in working evening and weekend hours

Additional Considerations:

  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse constituencies is required
  • The ability to understand “the big picture” and to assist with the development of processes to meet University goals and maintain University standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration preferred
  • Experience in a graduate admissions office strongly preferred
  • A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated skills in assisting with the development of marketing materials and using social media desirable

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is an SEIU 888 Professional Union position, Grade P16 or P18 depending on qualifications.
