General Summary of Position:

The Human Resources Assistant (temporary) reports directly to the Assistant to the AVC, HR/Office Manager. The position coordinates the flow of incoming visitors by determining the nature of service, resolution of general inquiries or referring to the appropriate staff member. Assists with verification of hiring paperwork (including I9’s), benefit information and provides phone, email and mail support.  Will work on review and scanning of documents into system and other projects.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D./equivalent


  • 3-5 years of administrative experience

*Will consider candidates enrolled in an associates or bachelors degree program in HR or a related field with some business experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated experience with computerized office applications including word processing, and spreadsheets, Microsoft Office preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft desirable or other HRIS system
  • Experience in Human Resources and Higher Education preferred
  • Notary Public preferred

This is a temporary, non-unit, non-benefited position. This position will be up to full-time hours for the summer, with the possibility of extending through the Fall.
