General Summary of Position:
The Francis College of Engineering is looking to fill a critical role in the Office of the Dean. The Senior Assistant to the Dean of Engineering/Director of Operations and Finance will act as the main liaison between the Dean's office and a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders. They will oversee and coordinate both short-term and long-term college programs, campaigns, and strategic initiatives, ensuring their effective implementation and alignment with the organization's objectives. The primary areas of focus will include (but are not limited to): Human Resources, Operations, Financial Planning and Management, Communications, Alumni and Donor Relations, Fundraising and Data Analysis.
The college includes 120 faculty members, 30% of whom are women, and has just under 3,000 undergraduate and over 1,000 graduate students spread across six department and 10 majors. The University serves the multicultural population of the Commonwealth and has been nationally recognized for its commitment to diversity by the American Society for Engineering Education and is also a Minority Serving Institution (MSI). UMass Lowell is a Carnegie Doctoral High Research (RU/H) university ranked in the top tier of US News' National Universities.
The campus is situated on the banks of the Merrimack River, a beautiful and culturally diverse area, and birthplace of America’s industrial revolution. Cotton mills in Lowell, the only city to be awarded national park status by the U.S. National Park Service, opened in 1814 and the city has been a hub of invention and innovation ever since. - Minimum of five years of experience preferably in a higher education environment

- The ideal candidate should possess the ability to pivot quickly and seamlessly effectively handling last-minute changes
- Adaptability is crucial for this role, as it may require dealing with unexpected situations and shifting priorities from multiple parties across the university
- Track record of success in building/overseeing cross-organizational teams to effect change/reach desired outcomes
- The candidate will be expected to navigate and oversee a wide range of tasks, from day-to-day administrative duties to contributing to strategic initiatives
- Proficiency in mining and synthesizing large amounts of material from multiple sources into clear, concise reports.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to organize time well, give attention to detail and carry out careful planning and follow-up
- Demonstrated discretion surrounding sensitive workplace communications; e.g. union proceedings, labor relations, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher, preferably in Education, Business or quantitative analysis
