General Summary of Position:

This position will support the goals of the graduate research and education programs in the College of Engineering by assisting in the administration of College-wide research activities and events, and graduate student activities, events, and responsibilities; Other administrative duties as needed in support of the Office of the Dean of Engineering.  The staff member may be assigned priority tasks to smooth out time-critical department issues often encountered during the beginning and end of semesters.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of five years of related experience preferably in a higher education environment
  • Must have proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook), online searching, and web development tools

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience with Student Teaching Assistant & Research Assistantships, Faculty and Graduate Student Union contracts a plus!
  • Must be able to work in constantly changing workplace including coordination of college-wide activities in conjunction with Administrative Team in Engineering Departments as well with university staff in Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Advancement etc; must be flexible, highly motivated, creative and organized

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or higher, preferably in higher education or related field (will consider candidates with Master’s degree and 3-5 years related experience)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in locating and synthesizing material from multiple sources
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to organize time well, give attention to detail and carry out careful planning and follow-up
  • Self-motivated
  • Work with other offices on campus to maintain databases to track (1) student progress, graduation rates and employment history and (2) submission and awarding of research proposals 
  • Coordinate marketing materials and events for national and international recruiting
  • Project management experience and/or student programming experience preferred
