General Summary of Position:

This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position. 

The Associate Instructional Technologist, a technical staff member reporting to the Manager of Instructional Technology Services, will assist with integration of technology into the academic curriculum.  Work is often performed in conjunction with a senior staff member.  The Associate Instructional Technologist will support the deployment of academic technology solutions to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.  Supported technologies will include: Personal Response Systems, Lecture Capture Platform, Smart Podiums, video, videoconferencing platforms, Learning Management Systems, multi-media applications, mobile devices, classroom computer systems, and computer labs.  Duties include responding to support requests and development of documentation for faculty, staff and students regarding the proper use of instructional technologies.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required

Experience: 

  • A minimum of zero to two years of experience using and supporting current academic, classroom and instructional technologies in a higher education setting

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of classroom technology and ability to troubleshoot Extron systems and signal flow
  • Experience with Macintosh, Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience working with MS Office, multi-media, video and mobile applications

Additional Considerations:

The candidate should:

  • Have the ability to work independently or as a team
  • Internship experience working in a higher education IT department
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace Administration including account creation, Chromebook device management and application policy distribution
  • Have the ability to engage in multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience working with academic technology applications, tools, and web-based course management systems including: Personal Response Systems “Clickers”, Echo360/MediaSite lecture capture platforms (or comparable), Smart Podiums, Ensemble video, Yuja, Zoom, Teams, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Symantec Ghost Solution Suite for imaging and maintaining complex computer lab environments
  • Working knowledge of AxisTV Digital Signage Suite
  • Experience with Shavlik Protect patch management
  • Experience with supporting Laerdal Nursing Simulation Labs
  • Have strong technical understanding and be able to troubleshoot hardware and software issues
