General Summary of Position:

The University of Massachusetts, Lowell Campus is searching for a part-time program coordinator to manage and support the Intercontinental Nuclear Institute Summer Program and other nuclear engagement activities.

The Intercontinental Nuclear Institute (INI) is organized under the Peaceful Use Initiative (PUI) through the Technical Cooperation (TC) at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).  It is a collaboration effort between the UML, the Czech Technical Institute and the IAEA. 

 INI is a four-week program (this year scheduled for June 11-24, 2022) and is tailored to prepare young professionals for the future challenges and career development in the nuclear energy field. This institute delivers the content in an interactive format that includes visits to nuclear facilities, hands-on-experiments, table-top exercises, and mentoring by prominent research scientists and industry experts from the nuclear energy sector.

INI Program:

 Collaborate with the Director of Nuclear Programs

  • Manage all INI program logistics while on UML campus (housing, events, hospitality)
  • Organize on/off campus social and events
  • Schedule site visits (prepare clearance information and coordinate transportation)
  • Order promotional merchandise
  • Supervise and collaborate with 2 student assistants
  • Assist with assessment initiatives
  • Manage social media (i.e. twitter, facebook, instagram)

 Nuclear Programs

  • Support student engagement events
  • Organize industry partner and alumni outreach events
  • Coordinate on campus site visits and tours (speakers, reactor tours)
  • Process and track NRC Fellowship Scholarship Award Recipients

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Experience working in higher education
  • Must be dependable, organized and detail oriented
  • Must enjoy working in a fast past environment
  • Candidate must be able to work independently and on a team
  • Proficient in MS Suites (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Comfortable with social media platforms
