General summary of position:

The multidisciplinary and collaborative lab of Dr. Gulden Camci-Unal at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a research associate with experiences in paper-based point-of-care devices, in vitro diagnostics, ELISA-based assays, microfluidics, and biosensors to develop low-cost point-of-care diagnostics platforms for rapid and multiplexed detection of biomolecules and biomarkers in biological samples. 

The appointment will be for 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or a related field

Experience:

  • Industrial experience in point-of-care testing and in vitro diagnostics although not required can be a plus
  • Highly motivated candidates with strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal and teamwork skills are encouraged to apply. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required by the sponsor

Skills:

• Analytical thinking

• In vitro diagnostics

• Multiplexed detection of biomarkers

• Colorimetric image analysis

• Microfluidics

Additional Considerations:

Only current UML Employees within the Grants & Contracts (MTA/GRACE) bargaining unit will be considered during the first 10 business days of the posting. All other candidates will be considered after that period.

This is a Grants & Contracts (MTA/GRACE) bargaining unit position, Grade P14.

Given the nature and responsibilities of this position, only U.S. persons (any individual who is a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident alien of the United States, or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) will be considered for this position.

This position is contingent upon funding.  The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance and the availability of funding.
