General Summary of Position:

This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position.

The Director of Housing (DH) is a critical member of the Housing and Residence Life Management team, and is responsible for day-to-day operations of occupancy management within Housing and Residence Life during the academic year and summer months. Approximately 5,000 students live on campus during the academic year and all residence halls are in use for students and conference attendees during the summer.  The DH provides strategic planning and oversight in Systems Administration, Operations, Events, Marketing, Technology and Customer Service for the Office of Residence Life, as well as, the direct supervision (Sr.) Associate Directors and indirect supervision of other support staff.  The DH also works closely with enrollment management, financial aid and the Solution Center  and is responsible for maintaining a 5-year housing occupancy projection model as well as residential dining revenue projections. 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Housing Administration:  Oversee and supervise all aspects of University Housing, including marketing, contracting, room assignments, room changes, statistical tracking, billing, cancellations, refunds, and summer/intersession housing. Responsible for Residence Hall Move-in/Opening (Summer:  June/August;  Winter:  January).  Provide occupancy and revenue projections for both academic year and summer months, planning proposals and analysis. 

Occupancy Management:  Provide revenue projections for both housing and residential meal plans, planning proposals and analysis.  Develop annual room selection process and calendar.  Represent Housing & Residence Life on all new construction and renovation projects.

Supervision:  Directly supervise (Sr). Associate Directors and indirectly supervise other support staff including a Housing Coordinator and Customer Service Specialist.  Indirectly supervise Resident Directors and Area Coordinators in functional areas pertaining to Housing Operations and Events. The DH & Ads will also oversee the hiring of summer ACUHO-I interns to assist with summer conference operations and new student housing assignments.

Technology:  Serve as primary Systems Administrator for Residential Management System (StarRez) and Persona software.  Interface with IT for Residence Hall Network. 

Campus Partnerships:  Establish and maintain partnerships with academic schools and colleges, deans, faculty, staff, and university partners including:  Operations and Facilities (housekeeping, maintenance, and furniture replacement), Hospitality & Events (summer conferences), Athletics (housing & dining contracts), Admissions & Orientation, International Student Services, and Navitas.  Serve as primary contact for off-campus leasing management companies.  Create and administer special housing selection process for Navitas students.

Other Job Duties:

Performs other related duties as assigned.
