General Summary of Position:

The Assistant Director of Student and Family Support Services oversees critical services focused on student and family support and well-being. The Assistant Director directly oversees resources related to student housing and food insecurity and manages the on-campus food pantry. The Assistant Director also plays a key role in the case management of STARS (UML’s behavioral intervention team).

Specific Responsibilities Include: 

  • Directly oversee on-campus food pantry operations and provide direct supervision to 10-15 student food pantry employees. Work with community partners to coordinate donations and fund raising.
  • Provide assistance with case management for STARS cases in conjunction with the STARS team. Track and compile STARS data to effectively report trends in student behavior and concerns. Provide one-on-one assistance to students assigned through STARS. Serve as initial point of contact to office for student concerns.
  • Assist with Family Programs initiatives with an emphasis on summer Family Orientation. Directly supervise Family Orientation Leaders.
  •  Develop and implement programming and educational initiatives related to student retention and support. Collaborate with other university offices and community partners to raise awareness and access to support services.

Minimum Qualifications (Required): 

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, CSP, Counseling, MBA or related field is required
  • 3 to 5 years full-time experience in student affairs at a college or university
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience working with students of concern/behavioral intervention initiatives
  • Prior experience working with family outreach initiatives
