General Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Planning & FIS, the Campus Planner is responsible for supporting the full range of campus planning functions for one the nation’s fastest growing universities, with an emphasis on planning analysis and space planning; capital projects, including feasibility assessment, programming and preliminary design; and planning that supports a more sustainable campus environment.  The Campus Planner position is an opportunity to join a dynamic Facilities Planning team with potential for advancement and growth.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, or directly related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in planning, feasibility assessment, programming and design, or related area or Master’s degree plus 1 year of experience
  • Knowledge of academic or institutional planning, programming, and facility design principles and best practices
  • Experience with relevant software including Autocad, Microsoft Excel & Project, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or equivalent
  • Experience working as a client to architects, planning, and study consultants
  • Skill in developing and evaluating complex planning, transportation and design guidelines and formulating recommendations.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with the university community, the public, other employees, and governmental units
  • Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in public situations.
  • Skill in oral and written presentation
  • Hands-on self-starter with high sense of urgency who functions well in a self-created, fast paced environment, with attention to meeting tight schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in urban design, architecture and/or related disciplines
  • Experience with programming, capital projects, and space planning in a university or large institutional setting
  • Working knowledge and experience with REVIT software and/or GIS
  • Experience working within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regulatory framework for public facility planning, design, and construction
