General Summary of Position:

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor commencing September 2021.  The successful candidate should conduct research in Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, and have teaching competencies in the Philosophy of Race, or Feminist Philosophy, or Non-Western Philosophy.

Located in the Merrimack Valley, approximately 45 minutes from Boston, the university serves 18,000 students across 6 colleges. 

The Department of Philosophy consists of seven full time faculty whose research and teaching interests include political philosophy, ethics, philosophy of religion, military ethics, feminist philosophy, philosophy of race, and philosophy of mathematics. The Department runs a major and minor program in philosophy, and conducts service teaching across all six colleges of the university. The Department also maintains a strong public philosophy presence, its faculty writing and being quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, TIME Magazine, and NPR.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • PhD in Philosophy
