General Summary of Position:

We are seeking a cell culture technician to join our team in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Under the leadership of Dr. Jennifer Fish, our lab investigates molecular and cellular mechanisms of developmental disorders. We currently have several projects using immortalized mouse cell lines and human patient-derived iPSCs. The technician will provide scientific support with day-to-day lab activities such as mammalian cell culture, RT-qPCR, Western blot, and immunofluorescence imaging. Opportunities for independent research are available.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline

Experience:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Independent work in a biology lab (as part of a course is acceptable)

Skills:

  • Communication, organization, and time-management
  • Ability to work independently (prioritize and multi-task)
  • Proven ability to collaborate as part of a team

Additional Considerations:

  • Flexible schedule that allows evening or weekend hours, based on experimental need

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Cell culture techniques
  • Familiarity with working with sterile techniques
  • Performing molecular biology experiments (e.g., qPCR, immunostaining)

Skills:

  • Maintaining a lab notebook
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
