The Department of Classics and Religious Studies Boston invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to join our faculty beginning September 1, 2026.
Applicants should have a PhD in Classics, and a demonstrable interest in spoken ancient Greek or Latin and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and the application of the latter to ancient language pedagogy. The candidate will have an interest in outreach to schools, an ability to oversee teaching practica, and consonant with these interests, be ready to teach graduate-level and undergraduate courses in the Classics and Religious Studies Department. The successful candidate will also contribute to interdisciplinary teaching in the College of Liberal Arts in Second Language Acquisition by collaborating with departments that specialize in modern languages such as Latin American and Iberian Studies, -Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and Applied Linguistics. |

The Social Media Writer/Strategist plays a lead role and exercises sound judgement in crafting content for the institution’s organic social media content that ladders up to the goals and content strategy for the institution. As social media writer, this position exercises sound editorial judgement in crafting thoughtful, well-researched content that elevates the reputation of UMass Amherst. Reporting to the Executive Director of Digital Communications, this role plays an essential part in amplifying the university’s triumphs, ventures and pivotal role in shaping lives on a national and international scale. It also provides perspective on student and faculty life at the University and supports and kindles student, faculty and alumni engagement.
The position requires excellent research and writing skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, public officials, alumni and donors. The Social Media Writer/Strategist must be able to work independently and as a team member, exercising sound judgment under deadline conditions. The job requires being available outside of normal business hours as needed, and participating in an on-call rotation on nights, weekends and holidays to monitor and post timely social media and web content. |

Assistant/Associate Professor (Performing Arts)

The Department of Performing Arts, in the College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for Music Education and Conductor of Chamber Orchestra. The position begins on September 1, 2026 and will be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. Primary duties include coordinating the Music Education program, which includes the Department’s BA Music – Music Education Track, and serving as the liaison with the University’s College of Education and Human Development Teacher Licensure Program. The successful candidate will teach courses such as chamber orchestra, instrumental methods, socio-cultural perspectives in music education, and advise students in the Music Education Track. The position holds a 2/2 teaching load and teaching/conducting chamber orchestra counts as one class. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Performing Arts will be in keeping with the candidate’s experience and expertise. The candidate will also provide service to the University, profession, and surrounding community. |
