General Summary: 

The EMR Super User and Medical Biller for University Health Services Counseling will provide support and training for clinical and administrative staff who use our EMR system while also managing billing tasks to ensure accurate and timely claims processing. Some extended day or evening hours may be required.

Examples of Duties: 

EMR Super User Responsibilities:

  • User Support: Act as the primary resource for EMR-related inquiries, providing troubleshooting assistance and support to clinical and administrative staff.
  • Training and Onboarding: Develop and conduct comprehensive training sessions for new and existing staff on EMR functionalities and best practices.
  • System Optimization: Collaborate with IT and EMR vendors to implement system updates and enhancements, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies related to patient data security and privacy.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Gather user feedback and make recommendations for EMR process improvements to enhance efficiency and user experience.

 

Medical Biller Responsibilities:

  • Claims Processing: Prepare, submit, and follow up on claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Billing Reconciliation: Review and reconcile patient accounts, addressing discrepancies and resolving billing issues promptly.
  • Payment Posting: Accurately post payments and adjustments to patient accounts, ensuring financial records are up-to-date.
  • Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and account status to ensure clarity and satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Generate billing reports to track key performance indicators, outstanding claims, and revenue cycle metrics.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field and minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in billing and EMR systems in a healthcare setting is required.  Additional 4 (four) years of experience in billing and EMR systems can be accepted in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD-10), and compliance regulations are required.
  • Proficient in using EMR software and billing systems; experience with Point and Click or Medicat is a plus.

The following are preferred skills and abilities:

  • Specialty training and experience in areas relevant to the use of EMR.
  • Specialty training and experience in areas relevant to medical billing.
  • Experience working in college health.
