General Summary of Position:

The Program Director for Student Mental Health and Wellness will be responsible for successfully developing, organizing, and providing leadership to a UMass Lowell community-wide prevention based public health initiative to improve the mental health and well being of students at the University. The Program Director will demonstrate a high-level vision for assessing, guiding, and capitalizing on opportunities and devising new strategies and provide a high visibility for this initiative with a goal of creating an environment for student success.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master or Bachelors Degree in a health, social science, or communications field
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of creating community wide public health or awareness campaigns
  • Masters Degree prepared candidates must have 4-5 years relevant work experience, Bachelors Degree prepared candidates must have 6-8 years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing community programming
  • Ability and desire to work effectively with diverse groups and under represented populations

Additional Considerations:

  • 2-3 years of experience working within a college or university setting or with college aged students in an alternative setting
  • Demonstrated experience with grantee report writing and grant application processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in public health, communications or related field desirable

Working Conditions: Hours: 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Will require some availability to work one or two evenings a week during the academic year. Occasional weekend work for initiative and University events. Travel within campus for meetings / occasionally off campus for meetings or professional conferences.
