General Summary of Position:

UMass Lowell, a Division I institution with 17 varsity sports and a member of the America East and Hockey East Conferences, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Athletic Business Assistant. The Athletic Business Assistant will assist with the fiscal management of all sports and administrative areas within the Athletic Department.

This is a part-time, non-unit, non-benefited position.


  • Assist with duties related to the department’s overall athletic business operation.
  • Assume overall responsibility for all purchasing related activities including but not limited to creating and processing requisitions and purchase orders within the University’s guidelines, processing invoices, etc.
  • Process and monitor voucher payments for game-day event staff, referees, umpires, etc.
  • Maintain Vendor File and serve as contact between external vendors and the University Accounts Payable Office
  • Process staff expense reports and reimbursement requests following University Guidelines and NCAA Guidelines.
  • Assist with team travel coordination as needed
  • Reconcile and process Team Meal Reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management or related field
  • Experience within intercollegiate athletics in a business setting
  • Working knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology of daily functions and services provided in a business office
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and work within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with knowledge and application of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with ARMS Software system
  • Experience working effectively in diverse environments

This is a part-time, non-unit, non-benefited position.
