General Summary of Position:

The Center for Advanced Materials at University Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to assist in studies related to developing high performance polymeric thermoelectric devices.  Experience with synthesis and characterization of flexible thermoelectric materials and fabrication and evaluation of devices is desirable but not essential. Previous experience in electroanalysis, electrocatalysis, or energy harvesting is however essential. 

The principal role of the Post-Doctoral Research Associate is to work on the project alongside the principal investigators. More specifically, the Post-Doctoral Research Associate will a) perform major research activities of the research project, b) prepare technical reports, conference presentations and manuscripts for publication based on the results of research activities, and c) develop and write future research proposals.

  1. Design, synthesis and characterization of polymeric or flexible thermoelectric materials
  2. Design of energy harvesting devices.
  3. Preparation of technical reports, manuscripts for publications, presentations for technical conferences and proposals.

This position is contingent upon funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Materials Science, or Chemistry and or Physics
  • Synthesis of materials and fabrication of devices for electroanalysis, electrocatalysis, or energy harvesting
  • Prior experience on the fabrication of thermoelectric materials and devices is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the fabrication and characterization of devices for electroanalysis, electrocatalysis and energy harvesting

Additional Considerations: 

  • Experience with a number of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, optical and electronic instrumentation
