General Summary of Position:

This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position.

The Office of the Registrar is the official keeper of academic records and is committed to the highest level of service.  The Office of the Registrar is also responsible for registration services, scheduling, academic progression, graduation, administrative operations and reporting. As a primary information resource for students and faculty this office actively seeks ways to effectively communicate and to inform students of their rights, responsibilities and academic procedures in an effort to support students’ success.

The Assistant Registrar for Academic Progression and Graduation is responsible for supporting and coordinating the maintenance of the Graduation and Graduation Readiness within SiS. This includes graduation for all academic programs offered at the University of Massachusetts Lowell through undergraduate, Continuing Studies and graduate certificates. In collaboration with the Associate Registrar for Academic Progression, the Assistant Registrar of Academic Progression and Graduation will work with academic departments to process graduating students as well as to aid in supporting the academic progression of students and timely degree completion and graduation. In addition. The Assistant Registrar for Academic Progression and Graduation will help to facilitate training and workshops for academic departments as it relates to using graduation tracking. 

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in higher education, academic policies, Academic Advising Report, graduation clearance, and transfer credit

OR, on lieu of Bachelor’s degree, consideration will be given to those with 7-10 years of related higher education experience in a professional capacity.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other student information systems
  • Experience with relational database, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, File Maker pro, and Image Now

Additional Considerations:

  • Comparable Higher Education Experience
  • Ability to respond to difficult situations diplomatically
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of (FERPA) Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Ability to perform all related Office of the Registrar tasks
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff and students in a highly effective and professional way

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SIS experience preferred
